OMNETRIC Group plans to expand its operations for South East Asia, building a team in Singapore dedicated to developing and delivering integrated, smart grid solutions
OMNETRIC Group signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore Power Group and the Economic Development Board to deliver a co-innovation project in the field of smart grid analytics.
OMNETRIC Group brings together excellence in information technology and operational technology capabilities from Accenture and Siemens to unlock the benefits of smart grids.
Focused on smart grid solution development and delivery, OMNETRIC Group is announcing its intention to expand operations to Singapore. In addition to serving the local market, the Singapore-based office would act as the company’s regional hub in South East Asia for business, and Research & Development.
OMNETRIC Group, formed in 2014 and based in Munich, brings together Siemens’ products and solutions with Accenture’s management and technology consulting, systems integration and managed-services capabilities. This unique combination offers the energy industry advanced and innovative solutions and services for greater reliability and efficiency of grid networks.
The services and solutions offered by OMNETRIC Group allow an efficient and customized integration of IT systems supporting smart metering, energy consumption and work and asset management with operational technologies (OT), such as distribution management and real-time grid operations. This provides for a more transparent and integrated management of all network applications.
Pending closing of the respective contracts, OMNETRIC Group will begin operations in Singapore in the first half of 2016. Once operational, the company would build-up know-how and resources, developing a team of 30 practitioners over five years, bringing together expertise from the engineering and information technology domains.
“With its focus on transforming to a lower carbon energy mix, combined with an unparalleled talent base, Singapore is an excellent location for OMNETRIC Group to serve the energy market in South East Asia,” says Maikel VAN VERSEVELD, chief executive officer of OMNETRIC Group.
One of the business activities planned by OMNETRIC Group is to collaborate with Singapore Power Group and the Economic Development Board (EDB), co-leads of the S$30 million Singapore Power Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Energy Development and Piloting SPEAR program. The program aims to pilot and advance next generation technologies to benefit Singapore’s electricity value chain. “We look forward to OMNETRIC Group and Singapore Power co-developing innovative smart grid solutions that will contribute towards building a more reliable grid network, not just for Singapore, but for South East Asia as well. OMNETRIC Group’s intent to make Singapore its regional business and R&D hub to develop, test and commercialise smart grid solutions, is a testament to the vibrant Cleantech eco-system in Singapore,” said Mr Kok Kiang LIM, Assistant Managing Director, EDB.
